In 2009, Island Def Jam, the largest record label in the world, enters into a strategic partnership with the House of Hype, and together, will celebrate the labels astounding 36 Grammy Nominations at the House of Hype Annual Grammy Event. This year’s nominees include: Jay-Z, Rihanna, Kanye West, Ne-Yo, and Mariah Carey. The event will be hosted by Island Def Jam Music Group CEO and Chairman, Antonio “L.A.” Reid.

Hosted by supporting actress Mariah Carey , three-time Sundance Award-winning movie “PRECIOUS” directed by Lee Daniels and produced by Oprah Winfrey, makes its global debut at the House of Hype. The rest of the cast came by as well, including “PRECIOUS” star herself, Gabourey ‘Gabby’ Sidibe, Paula Patton, and Mo’Nique. Other celeb attendees there to support were Nick Cannon, Russell Simmons, Robin Thicke, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Young Jeezy. A few hundred fans stood outside the House of Hype waiting to catch a glimpse of the stars inside, while Academy Award-winner Robert De Niro wanted to enter the venue, and couldn’t because of the craziness outside! To note, “PRECIOUS” is the first film to have won both Audience Awards at the Sundance and Toronto Film Festivals.

JUST ABOUT EVERYONE OBVIOUSLY! CEO of Island Def Jam, Antonio L.A. Reid hosts his Grammy Awards Dinner & After-party at the House of Hype, located at Wolfgang’s Steakhouse. Those that came to support were Lionel Richie, Estelle, Kanye West, Young Jeezy, Keyshia Cole, Colby O’Donis, Christina Milian, Ryan Phillippe, Jesse McCartney, Benki Madden, Ryan Eggold, and Ashanti. Shockingly, the menu was even better than the guest list (if you can believe that), which entailed jumbo shrimp cocktail, lobster cocktail, filet mignon, and grilled wild salmon. [The grilled wild salmon was my favorite.]
